As members of the Resurrection Lutheran Church family who serve on the Mission & Service Committee, we seek to affirm the Lord's presence in the world by supporting these programs and activities that strive to heal the brokenness found in our local, national and international communities.

 

 THE OREGON SYNOD OF THE ELCA

Provides communication with the National church on vision and direction for mission & outreach in Oregon.

 

 PORTLAND LUTHERAN SCHOOL

Provides Christ-centered learning for our children.

 

ZACAPA PARTNERS

Resurrection Lutheran Church's on-going support of the Zacapa Lutheran congregation in the mountains of Guatemala.

 

* SNOW CAP

Provides food and clothing to those of East County in need. 

 

* EAST COUNTY LOAVES AND FISHES

Providing meals on wheels and meals at the center, to the elderly in our community.

 

 LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF

 An international agency providing         

 assistance in times of catastrophe and       

 famine. 

 

PASTOR'S DISCRETIONARY FUND

Funds provided to our Pastors, for emergency assistance to the needy. 

 

* LUTHERAN COMMUNITY SERVICES NW

Provides help and counseling services    

to Northwest families in need and newly   

arrived refugees. 

 

WILLAMETTE BRIDGE                     (formerly Greenhouse)

Ministers to Portland's homeless young people with food, clothing, counseling, health services and educational opportunities.

 

* PRISON MINISTRY

Provides spiritual help for those in Portland area jails. Volunteers hold weekly Bible studies and Church services at Prison facilities and distribute Christian materials. 

 

*OPERATION NIGHTWATCH                                                    (Hospitality Center)

Offering food, clothing, blankets, friendship and special activities to Downtown Portland's homeless, low income and mentally disabled adults. 

 

* SHEPHERD'S DOOR (Our Neighbor)

An extended care shelter for homeless women & their children,  Providing food, clothing, a place to live, a nourishing Christian environment for personal growth and the acquiring of employment skills.  

 

 WEST WOMEN'S SHELTER                                     

Provides shelter and a variety of services to meet immediate needs and long term goals of women, with children, who have suffered abuse.

 

* SAMARITAN'S PURSE

(Operation Christmas Child)

M&S supports the work of church volunteers who provide needy children in other parts of the world with school supplies, toys, soap, and other personal items. 

 

* ZAREPHATH KITCHEN & PANTRY

(Trinity Lutheran Church, Gresham)

Provides daily hot meals and food boxes to families and individuals in need.

 

* DAYBREAK HOMELESS FAMILY    SHELTER

 (Administered by Human Solutions)

 A group of 10 Churches, hosting up    

to 5 homeless families, with children, (maximum  of 14 persons) for 1 week, at each Church,  on a rotating basis.  RLC    is a host church.

 

RLC SEMINARIAN SUPPORT 

To assist Resurrection Lutheran       Church members in pursuing seminary  education  towards ordination for the sake of the gospel.

NON-BUDGETED PROGRAMS

(Under the Mission & Service Umbrella)

 

*ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE 

An event held in April, raising several thousand dollars entirely donated to various local, national, and international, agencies dedicated to helping people in need.  Many volunteers are needed for this event.         

 

GOOD SHEPHERD COMMUNITIES

A Lutheran agency serving people with disabilities in the 11 western states, plus Alaska & Hawaii, through residential programs, supported living & case management.

 

* ADOPT FAMILIES AT CHRISTMAS

7-10 families, in need, are contacted through local agencies, family needs & wish lists are obtained.  Household items and food baskets are assembled, gifts selected & purchased by members of the congregation. Delivery is made before Christmas by volunteers.
